Manhattan Relay - 5（マンハッタンリレー - 5 ）

ピア２５にもどり、ボート、キャプテンとお別れ。
ピア２５は、人はすでに少なく、朝とは全く違った景色。
スイマーは、そこで記念品を受け取る。

When we return to Pier25, we must say "Good Bye" to our boat captain and "TAZ."
There are few workers and less swimmers at Pier 25 compared to the morning setting.
Swimmers receive goody bags.


そこにいた年配のボランティアの方、日本人チームメートとの会話のあとに、
ひとこと私に、
「彼らの言っている事がわからなくて、ごめんなさいね。と伝えてね。」と.
なんと暖かいメッセージなんだろう。

After a senior lady took care of my Japanese teammates to provide the gifts,
the lady said to me,
" Would you please tell them that I am sorry I did not understand what they said."
Her words made my heart very warm!

最後に、この大会およびNYC SWIM に関して。

本部の方々をはじめ、多くの方が、ボランティアです。ボートの提供を含めボートキャプテン。カヤッカー。オブザーバー。大会以前の準備、大会当日の早朝からのテント張り。また大会後のパーティーの段取りなど。なかには、１０年以上もこのボランティアを続けているボートキャプテンやカヤッカー、現在プロで活躍中のビデオ撮影の方も、ボランティアとして参加してくださっています。
また、NY市のサポート、海上警備隊の方々、NYの警察の方々。
私は、これら多くの方の協力のもと、この大会成り立っている事を忘れないでいきたいと思います。そして、これからも、ずっと、スイマーのためにも続けていってもらいたいと思います。

This event and other NYC SWIM events are supported by many volunteers, including boat captains with his/her boats, Kayakers, Observers, others for preparing the gift packages to swimmers, setting up tents for morning and evening, checking swimmers safety, arranging the dinner party and etc. And, more support from NYC, coast guard, and NYPD. I appreciate these supporters and will never forget them. I wish NYC SWIM organization will continue to provide these events for swimmers and local people. THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!
